At Teknique School of Dance, we believe in nurturing a passion for dance in every student. Our philosophy at Teknique is that every dance teacher shall provide the highest standard of dance instruction, for both the recreational and more serious/professional dancer and instill confidence in every child.
We've been here for more than 20 years, and we look forward to continuing to nurture future dance students for another 20+ more.

With a wealth of experience and a passion for teaching, they inspire and guide our dancers towards excellence.

Sarah Schumacher
Owner, Director and Dance Instructor
Meet Ms. Sarah.
She has been dancing since the age of four, and started as an assistant teacher when she was 12 years old. As a student, she trained in all methods of dance and competed all over Buffalo and Southwestern Ontario. In April 2004, she completed her intermediate ballet exam through the RAD (Royal Academy of Dance). Ms. Sarah completed her ADAPT (Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers) Certified Teacher Certificate in July 2010 and became an accredited teacher in 2012.
Ms. Sarah continues her dance education in order to offer high-quality dance instruction in all styles of dance. Her experience, expertise, and creativity allows her to push her dancers to be the best they can be while providing a safe and fun class environment.
This season, you will see her teaching jazz, ballet, lyrical, tap, and musical theatre.

Rebecca Barnes
Dance Instructor
Meet Miss. Becca.
She has been dancing for many years in multiple styles of dance. She has participated in professional workshops to enhance her teaching skills. As an Early Childhood Educator, she has a thorough understanding of child development, which allows her to help children become the best dancers they can be. She has been entering her students in competitions with immense success for the past
15 years.
This will be Miss. Becca's 17th season as an instructor at Teknique. This year, you will see her teaching jazz, ballet, and hip hop.

Josée Plante
Dance Instructor
Meet Miss. Josée.
She started dancing at two and a half years old and found her passion. She has completed many ballet, tap, and jazz exams as well as graduated from George Brown College's Certificate Dance program. She has been teaching at Teknique for
14 years. She shares her love for dance and sees the joy it brings to her students.
This year, Josée can be seen teaching tap, ballet, lyrical, hip hop, and acro.

Olivia Schumacher
Assistant Dance Instructor
Say hello to one of our two assistant dance instructors, Olivia. She started dancing at the age of two and is trained in all styles of dance offered at Teknique. Olivia's favourites are musical theatre and hip hop. Her love of dance runs deep as she is following in her mom's footsteps, creating a fun classroom atmosphere.
Olivia will be assisting in classes with some of our newest and youngest dancers this dance season.

Clara Schumacher
Assistant Dance Instructor
Meet our second assistant dance instructor, Clara. She also started dancing at the age of two and is trained in all styles of dance offered at Teknique. Clara's favourite dance style to instruct is musical theatre. Her love of dance runs deep as she too is following in her mom's footsteps, creating a fun classroom setting.
Clara will be assisting in classes with some of our newest and youngest dancers this dance year too.
